Script Writing

Plot

Opening/Start- Bus stop, raining, grey day, other people waiting dressed grey, a man is stood (Brodie) miserable begins to open his wallet- a birthday card falls out, he quickly puts it away. 

Room- Blinds closed, pictures of two friends are in a box (dusty), not much furniture, gloomy. 

As the story progresses Brodie develops a relationship with a women at the bus stop, the weather brightness other people are happy- they wear bright clothes. He quits his tiering job- we hear this over a phone call, looks for a new one on a computer. His room brightens up, more furniture, the pictures of the two friends are put up. The birthday card is still not faced. 

 

Middle- Lucy Discovers the card, pushes Brodie too far she wants the truth about his past, he shuts her out he does not like the vulnerability. The darkness creeps back in, the light disappears from his room, he wears grey again, the weather turns. He must realise that in order to truly be happy he must be vulnerable overcome this hurt by sharing it with those he trusts (Lucy) Someone he does not want to loose.  He must face his fears and talk about his best friend passing, open up about the pain.

End- We then cut to Brodie and Lucy at a cemetery they are standing above a grave, with a deep breath he finally opens up about his friend passing shows her the birthday card, cut to the card being placed on the mantle piece among other memories.

Show and don't tell 

''Fred is always late''

A businesswoman looks down at her watch and then at the door. Cut to Fred rather erratic and messy man grabbing keys from the side and shoving a piece of toast in his mouth running out the door. He runs back in and picks up his tie then leaves again. Cut to a clock ticking. Cut to a train leaving the station as Fred runs up to it toast in mouth, blazer jacket half off, tie and briefcase in hand. Cut to him running up to a building door pushing past people and into the lift. Cut to the tapping of a pen in the conference room. Cut to Fred in the lift, stopping at floors people getting in and out. Finally, he runs through the door into the conference room. Looking down at the ladies watch again it's been an hour. 

''Alice was sad''

Open with the camera panning up from tissues all being laid around. The Tv is playing the ending to Dirty Dancing. More tissues are flying around. Pictures of Alice and her ex-boyfriend are lying around one cracked slightly. The camera then makes it way to Alice sat in the middle of the sofa holding a picture in one hand the other a half-used tissue. Mascara and tears running.
