The purpose of this show reel is to ''show-off'' the creators best work; specifically editing, they are able to achieve this goal through this YouTube video and various editing techniques. Such as the packaging of the over-all video as it is mainly promotional work in the beginning of the video they are showing you the product (the cars) by the end those products are being used (the car is driven) they are telling a story as they set the scene using different shot-types.

Year 1 Show Reel work

The pace was very speedy with lots of quick cuts the slow-motion made some clips last a little longer however, most clips lasted about a second. The quick pace matched very well to the music with every beat the clip changed making the whole video flow very satisfyingly, this also paced the clips evenly between one another allowing for the creator to show as much of their best work as possible keeping the clients on their toes. The sounds matched perfectly with the actions taking place and followed onto the next clip, this therefor meant the sound didn't cut abruptly causing disruption with the flow of the video. I believe this show reel was very successful in creating a short (1m30) clip entailing all of their best work without making it seem rushed, everything included in the clips made sense as to what their main area of work is (promotional videos) and the types of editing they are strongest at creating; that being slow motions, special effects, colour grading:

The purpose of this show reel is to ''show-off'' the creators best work; specifically editing, they are able to achieve this goal through this YouTube video and various editing techniques. Such as the packaging of the over-all video, it sticks to one subject that being the promotion of a cocktail company but guides you through the process; the initial opening of the bottle  shake, pour, stir, garnish: In a very cinematic way, making it personal.

The pace of the video was a mixture of fast and slow however everything was very to the point on selling the item to you; giving as many examples of their type of skill set as possible with lots of transitions and even some colour grading in the mix, cutting ahead of time with a before and after of editing:

The pace matched well with the music although the beat was very repetitive having the music quiet down at different points broke up the video

and focused the audiences attention in making the ''experience'' of this product very personal.

I do believe that this show reel was successful to a certain extent; they manage to show lot of editing techniques whilst still keeping the video

satisfying with a quick pace however, they were not able to show any other examples of previous work which would show their skills in a

different setting. I would say specific elements that worked would be the experience this product will give you was expressed very well, making

the over-all video feel more like a story then a promotion drawing in my attention.

Specific elements that work well would be the music, it matches the fast pace energy the creating is giving, they like to build up the tension by building a story with the work they are given. Their show reel is reflecting their personal style of editing specifically showing off their strong points. However, they perhaps could of broken up the beginning of the video slightly as it was very repetitive with the slow motion and even had a pause in the music to drawn in the viewers attention even more, but over-all a very good show reel.

The purpose of this show reel is to ''show-off'' the creators best work; specifically editing, they are able to achieve this goal through this YouTube video and various editing techniques. Such as the packaging of the over-all video, the creator has made the reel in sections the beginning sets up the story showing examples of their films it then draws you in with lots of plot twists for example a body being dragged:

And ends with other examples of work they do;

events, promos, ADs, music videos and teasers and trailers. This ensures the clients/audience can clearly see the difference between all pieces of work depending on what they are specifically for:

The pace is very up and down, in the very beginning of the reel there are lots of cuts between clips it then slows down holding clips for longer before rapping everything up at the end, the music is used to fade in and out between sounds from the original clip keeping the audience on there toes anticipating the next scene. The specific elements that work best are is the cliff hangers the clips give, they also show the creators ability to story tell. An improvement would be to ensure the clips are not too jumbled causing the reel to look slightly messy at times however, overall they were able to show their best work and the different types of transition and other techniques they are able to create.
